NEW ERA X D-MAK COLLABO!
What it did?? Well it’s been about a year since I designed a fitted cap for new era but the wait is over and it is finally here! As of now they will be selling it at our home games at Ariake coliseum but you can also buy them through me. The price is 5,800 yen and NO I cannot get you a free one! lol
Act fast because they are limited to only 144 hats!
Here is a breakdown of the design…
Well the heart logo is the same tattoo I have on the back of my neck. it is the sacred heart with the basketball within the heart, symbolizes my love for basketball. The signature on the right is my own with my number 10.
On the right side of the hat you will see the numbers 323 in parenthesis. The number is my area code of my hometown in Los Angeles. It used to be 213 till they changed it a few years back so right now i’m reppin 323. the parenthesis is actually two b’s. The two b’s stand for BELLOBLOCK; the nickname of the place I grew up, Montebello.
On the back is the rising sun, of course this symbolizes Japan. It is also the same tattoo I have on my back, self explanatory.
On the underside of the brim is theisland of Japan made out of sakura. The red pedal is Tokyo, home of the Tokyo Apache! This is also the same kind of tattoo I have on my stomach, which really hurt by the way. This is an original design; nobody ever had a design on the underside of a hat before. I actually told my boy pacu at new era to make hats like this. Well he made me this la one and now they are selling them like this. He knows where to send them checks lol!
Anyway would like to thank Tokyo Apache staff and the people at new era for allowing me to design this hat. I’ve been wearing new era caps for over 10 years now and it is a dream and an honor to be able to do this. Oh and thanks in advance to anyone who buys my hat! うぃす！もうNEW ERAのキャップをデザインして1年ぐらい経つけど、ようやく出来上がったよ！取り合えず今のところ、有明コロシアムでのホームゲームで購入できるらしいけど、もちろん、俺を通しても買えるよ。値段は￥5,800。はい、タダではあげられません！（笑）
急がないと限定144個だぜ！
ここでデザインを軽く説明しよう：
ハートのロゴは首の後ろにあるタットゥーと同じもの。これは、俺のバスケットに対する情熱を表した、ハートの中にバスケットボールが描かれたシンボル。右にあるのが俺の背番号とサインだ。
キャップの右側に３２３という数字がかこってあるのが見えるはず。この数字はLAの実家のエリアコード。昔は２１３だったんだけど数年前変わって、今は３２３をレプリゼントしてる。このかっこはよく見ると‘b’なんだ。この‘b’は俺が育ったMontebelloのニックネーム、BELLOBLOCKを意味する。
後ろには、日本を表す日の出が描かれている。まぁ、これは説明するまでもないか。ちなみに、これも背中のタットゥーと同じもの。
つばの裏側にあるのは日本列島を桜の花びらで描いたもの。赤い花びらは東京アパッチの本拠地、東京だ！これもお腹にあるタットゥーと同じ柄。ちなみに、余談だけどめちゃめちゃ痛かった。つばの裏側にデザインが付くのは初めてのことでオリジナルのデザインなんだ。こういうキャップを作ってほしいとNEW ERAでキャップを作ってる友達のpacuに頼んだんだ。ま、ギャラはあとで！（笑）
東京アパッチのスタッフさんをはじめ、このようなデザインを可能にしてくれたNEW ERAの方々、本当にありがとうございました。僕がNEW ERAのキャップをかぶり続けて10年が過ぎました。このような体験ができたことを光栄に思っております、また夢が一つ叶いました。あと、友達のpacu、ありがとな！これからもどんどんfittedキャップを送ってくれ！それから、キャップを買ってくれた人たち…ありがとう！先にお礼を言います。=)One Love, D-MAK
