Jeremy Tyler

July 30th, 2010

Since we signed Jeremy Tyler, I have been reading so many negative comments about him online. First of all, if you have never talked with the guy personally, you should never pass judgement. I have spent time with him and he is a good kid, living in a world created by other people, you people. People are really bashing his decision to play in Japan and I do not understand why, I am not defending him just because he is my teammate either.

This is strictly a basketball decision. Of course he can make more money in Europe or somewhere else but how is that going to help him get to the NBA? He can go play somewhere else , get paid really well, and pick up very bad habits. Coaches in Europe do not care if he is a projected draft pick, they have their own agendas. Bob Hill is a perfect fit for him, he will prepare Jeremy for the NBA better than any college coach or Euro coach out there.

Bob Hill is a seasoned veteran NBA coach and won’t take crap from anybody. He has a great track record working and developing big men and Jeremy would definitely gain from playing under coach Hill. Ask any NBA general manager out there and they will agree this is the correct basketball decision for Jeremy. This is not about the money, this is about his livelihood and future as an NBA player.

People are also saying he doesn’t have NBA game, but who has NBA ready game when they are 16,17,18 years old?? The NBA drafts on potential and Jeremy has all the physical tools and talent as much as anybody else out there. Just because he was the first American to leave high school early to turn pro people are getting all wet. Well Europeans turn pro as young as 14. We all have dreams and goals and not all of us take a direct line to them. Stuff happens along the way and it is true for Jeremy as well. We are not perfect and have no right to judge other people.

DEREK FISHER

Everyone patterns their game after a player before them. Straight up, I’m trying to be like Derek Fisher. Why Fish?? His longevity, leadership, clutchness, professionalism, consistancy, etc. He is just a winner who everyone respects.
People always ask me how much longer I have left to play. Well, I always say whatever age D-Fish retires I will retire at the same age. He is 35 and still goin strong…

World Cup

June 14th, 2010

First of all, I want to say that I am NOT a fan of soccer. I don’t really enjoy watching it but I like to play it, same as baseball. Anyway I never watched soccer at all until I moved to Japan 6 years ago. It’s pretty much all over TV and I have to admit, I got into it. Now that the world cup is here, I will probably watch every Japan match! Yea I said, and I am not on the band wagon either, I always watch the national team play.

I mean if it came down to a match between Japan and the USA, I would be cheering for Japan…Just saying…Anyway I hope you all enjoy the world cup and it’s crazy time schedules! 1ove, D-MAK
